I'm Such a Tool

I did it! I did the one thing I have wanted to do since I was 17 years old. For so long I never had the money to do it. And then when I did have the money I talked myself out of doing it saying it wouldn't be worth it, it's a waste of money. Well, I did it. I grabbed my nut sack, my wallet and my car keys; drove down to a little local mom and pops place and purchased my first electric guitar! I know, exciting huh? Well, I did it. So... it's done. Not gonna get rid of it. Sorry. You will just have to deal with it.

Six hundred bucks got me a Fender Squire, and amp and accessories. Good to go. Sort of. The only issue is, once you buy this you feel obligated to purchase more things such as effects pedals, perhaps even recording equipment.

There in lies my issue with spending money. Once I start I cant stop. Its like drinking all night and then having that first pee; you break the seal and the rest of the evening is spent snuggling with the urinal. I broke my money spending seal and it will be a struggle to reign in the money horses.

Anyhow, I will leave you with a poem because a little poetry never hurt anyone:

Past Eight to Freedom

It broke upon the vow you made,
And fell upon your grave,
With seven fingers, seven toes,
A seven times to say:
Farewell to the ball.
Good bye to the chain.
Seven years have come and gone,
The pleasure was a pain.
A smile was just insurance,
You leech another day.
With seven fingers, seven toes,
You treat me like a slave.
It broke the day you slept alone,
The day you died inside.
Seven days you keep on living,
You try to hide, dead center line.
It broke and so I drift away.
The corpse it breaths alone.
With seven fingers, heart of stone.
You must now walk back home.

  1. Well I think it was money well-spent. Including the accessories. Rock on!

  2. Awesome!!! Yes. Money well spent. I suppose even if it collects dust for a year or two I will eventually break it out and play it. So...

And yeah it felt good to walk out of there with it and it felt good playing it at home for the first time. I will admit that I swung it over my back and struck some rock and roll pose in the bathroom mirror.

My parents have a photo of my in sun glasses singing into a mic when I was around 6 years old. I always wanted to be a rock star. I'm getting a bit old but who knows. At least I will have fun trying.
