You control nothing but manage everything. There are no truer words than this. I have been trying so hard to control my life, to make things work out the way I wanted them to. I felt like I was hitting my head against a brick wall!
But when I realized I could control nothing but only manage everything, things became more clearer. Basically managing everything requires tools. I have these tools, the tools I need to have a happy life, to get that dream job, have that dream marriage. The problem is is that there are far too many variables that I have no control over to guarantee that I will get these things.
I have tools to manage life. I have tools that, when sharpened, when a practiced hand is applied to them, I can increase the possibilty that my dreams and goals will come to past but there is still no such thing as a sure thing.
What does this mean? How does this help me? Am I no better off than I was before? I mean, seriously, just knowing this doesn't make things better, does it? Yes. Yes it does and I'll tell you why. If I can control nothing and if I can manage everything, meaning if I try my best, then I don't have to worry about the outcome cause I did my best and the rest is out of my hands.
Essentially, free will and destiny exist and they are strolling through the universe hand in hand. Both are real and both of them work together. Destiny is that which I cannot control and free will is that which I can manage. Which leaves me free of worry. Thank you, universe.

ReplyDeleteI have always been a manager. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to step up to the helm and control the ship a bit. Because sometimes the captain allows it - but you have to be prepared to take the risk. And this affects Destiny. Acceptance of what is is important but status quo is not always the only thing out there.
If you know what you want and have a desired outcome, the hand that is steering the wheel will automatically go in that direction, but there will be distractions along the way to overcome.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments. The helm and the wheel? These are tools you use to manage life. You can steer the ship but you can't stop the squall. You can turn the car but you can't stop that other driver from swerving into your lane and side swiping you. We manage, we do not control.
