Back in Blue, Navy Blue

It's time to catch up on some Nosmo gossip. For those of you who are unaware, I am back home in Hawaii. It was a horrible flight, then again aren't they all. I hate flying with a passion. It seems every time I fly I am in a seat that doesn't work for me. I get an isle seat when I want to sleep. I get a window seat when I have digestion issues. I always forget to bring food or money (you have to pay for your meals in-flight now) when I take a long flight. O'Hare to Honolulu is nine hours, by the way. I also suffer from RLS (restless leg syndrome). Actually, it's RFS (restless feet syndrome) but I'm not sure if that is a documented condition. Regardless, it flares up when I am tired, sitting too long or have been wearing shoes and socks too long, so pretty much a nine hour flight from O'Hare to Honolulu with 6 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours.

That is all behind me and I hope to God that I don't have to fly again for some time. My trip to Connecticut was my first flight in 5 years! Which really isn't that shocking until you consider the fact that that time was spent on an island, away from family and Olive Gardens. I jest, I hate Olive Garden and I am glad there isn't one here on Oahu.

So, I am headed back to work today in about 2 hours. I'm nervous. New people, relatively new job, possible death or dismemberment. Long hours, overnight duty days every three days, going out to sea for weeks or months at a time. My three years of shore duty has spoiled me. I'm used to working 4 hour days and having my weekends off. Oh well, you have to pay the piper sometime.

Phrase of the Day (Proverb of the Day)
Dont count the days, make the days count.

Vocab Word of the Day
coalesce (verb):
1) To join into a single mass or whole.
2) To form from different pieces or elements.

  1. Sounds like a big change. Hope you adjust quickly. I love flying - but not so much the really long flights.

  2. I may be the only one who gets the Primus Reference in the title... unless that was unintended.... ummmm... yeah

  3. Jeannie: I have adjusted quickly. I really hate flying. Doesn't matter how long I'm up in the air. I'm like BA from the A-Team.

Savage: It was unintended. At least consciously. But I see it now, 'Dressed in blue, yes Navy blue, from head to toe.' Wow. yeah. Primus Sucks! Love it.
