Another Poem

Unable to Hold More

Today it seems that I know what I want,
But how can I know what I'll want tomorrow?
I cannot trust myself to love you,
Only this very moment I do.
And I know I have before.
And I know I want to more.
Today it seems peace maybe easy to find,
But how can I find it tomorrow?
I cannot trust the world to turn more,
The sun to rise and burn more.
Only this very moment.
This ray of sunlight;
May it last forever,
While I hold you,
If only in my mind.
Because this moment, right now!
Its all I can be sure of.

Phrase of the Day (or Week)
High on the Hog: The source of this phrase is often said to be the fact that the best cuts of meat on a pig come from the back and upper leg and that the wealthy ate cuts from 'high on the hog', while the paupers ate belly pork and trotters. source

Vocabulary Word of the Day
Languish (verb): to lose strength or become weak, to live in miserable or disheartening conditions.

  2. The honesty in this poem comes out in a vulnerable way that is hard to, sometimes, express. Love it.

  3. This seems like the most practical poem I have ever read.

No. This seems like the only practical poem I have ever read.

  4. Thank you all for your comments. It's been a long couple of days and I never thought I would get the chance to get back to my blog! With temporary homelessness, long flights and settling back in at home I have been unable to get any real blogging done. Who am I kidding, I don't do 'real' blogging. LoL.
Again, thank you. I think most poets would be offended by their poem being called 'practical' but I'm not most! (I'm not really a poet either. Shhh, don't tell anyone.)But I shall continue to pave the way for practical poetry! LoL.
